The AGM Wolf-7 Pro NW1 is the white-phosphor version of AGM’s bi-ocular Generation 2+ night vision goggles. Mechanically it matches the green NL1 one image intensifier tube shared across both eyepieces for hands-free, two-eyed viewing, but its P45 white-phosphor tube renders the night in greyscale rather than green. As with monoculars, white phosphor does not change the tube’s underlying numbers, yet in the field many users find the greyscale image clearer to interpret and noticeably less tiring across a full night on a helmet.

Design and build

The NW1 shares the proven Wolf-7 Pro chassis: a 27 mm F/1.2 objective, 40-degree field of view, 0.25 m to infinity focus, 15 mm eye relief, -4 to +5 diopter, and 57-73 mm interpupillary adjustment. Automatic brightness control and highlight-overload protection shield the tube, and a built-in short-range IR illuminator handles map-reading and close tasks in zero light.

Two AA cells provide up to 40 hours (IR off) or 30 hours (IR on), with an external 2.8-4.2 V supply as a backup. The waterproof composite body weighs 510 g; soft headgear and a Rhino mount are included for immediate hands-free use, and AGM’s optional 8x afocal lenses convert it into a long-range viewer.

The NW1 tube is a Gen 2+ white-phosphor (P45) unit at AGM’s Level 1 grade, resolving 45-54 line pairs per millimeter with practically no spots in the central Zone 1. Greyscale rendering tends to reveal shape and texture, the edge of a track, a gap in a hedge, or an animal against cover more readily than a saturated green image and reduces the eye fatigue that builds over a long helmet-mounted session.

Remember the bi-ocular trade: one tube means a comfortable two-eyed view but no stereoscopic depth. For depth perception, step up to a dual-tube binocular such as the AGM NVG-50, which uses a separate tube per eye.
