The AGM Wolf-14 NW1 is the white-phosphor version of AGM’s value night vision monocular. Mechanically it is the same proven Wolf-14, a single-tube Generation 2+ intensifier with a built-in infrared illuminator and a helmet-ready housing, but the image intensifier tube uses a P45 white phosphor screen rather than the traditional P43 green. The result is a scene rendered in shades of grey, which is increasingly the preference of hunters and professionals alike because it more closely matches how the eye naturally interprets a low-light landscape.

Design and build

Like the green-phosphor NL1, the NW1 keeps a single operating knob, a flip-up helmet function, an automatic bright-light cut-off, and a built-in spot/flood IR illuminator. The fast 25 mm F/1.2 objective feeds the tube as much ambient light as possible; focus runs from 0.25 m to infinity with 21.5 mm eye relief and a -5 to +5 diopter range. At roughly 450 g it is light enough for extended helmet-mounted use, and a single CR123 A lithium cell (AA adapter included) lasts about 40 hours.

The housing accepts the same J-arm and Rhino mount as the NL1, so it drops straight into existing AGM and standard night vision mounting ecosystems for head, helmet, or passive weapon use.

Why white phosphor: P45, resolution and FOM

The ‘NW1’ code marks a white-phosphor (P45) tube of AGM’s Level 1 grade. AGM describes its NW1 tube as the highest-resolution and cleanest it offers in this class, with practically no visible spots in the central Zone 1 and a resolution in the 51-64 line-pairs-per-millimeter range. White phosphor does not make the tube ‘better’ than green on paper, but in the field the grayscale rendering helps many users separate vegetation, ground, and animals more readily and reduces the eye fatigue that a saturated green image can cause over hours.
