AGM 50 NW1 Dual-Tube Night Vision Goggle (NVG-50, Gen 2+ White)

6.500,00

The AGM NVG-50 NW1 in white phosphor is a true dual-tube night vision goggle that gives you real stereoscopic depth perception, not the flat image of a single-tube unit. Two Photonis Gen 2+ tubes (FOM 1400-1800) provide one per eye, and a wide 51-degree field of view makes moving fast over uneven ground far safer.

  • Dual-tube binocular: two Gen 2+ Photonis white-phosphor (P45) tubes for true depth perception
  • Photonis FOM 1400-1800, Level 1 grade; wide 51-degree field of view
  • Convertible to a monocular by switching off one tube to save power
  • Built-in IR illuminator; runs up to 20 h on one AA or CR123A; optional battery pack
  • Fits standard AN/PVS-7/14/15/18 and dovetail helmet mounts via pre-installed NVG interface shoe

The AGM 50 NW1 is AGM’s NVG-50 dual-channel night vision goggle fitted with white-phosphor tubes. Where the Wolf-7 Pro shares a single tube for both eyes, the NVG-50 gives each eye its own Photonis Gen 2+ image intensifier, a true binocular. That is the difference between a flat picture and genuine stereoscopic depth, and it is what allows a user to walk broken ground, step over obstacles, descend stairs, or drive at night with confidence. A wide 51-degree field of view adds to that situational awareness, and the white-phosphor tubes render it all in natural greyscale.

Design and build

The NVG-50 uses a compact composite housing with multi-coated optics and a dual-channel optical path. At 1x magnification with a 51-degree field of view, it shows a large, life-size scene without panning. Each channel focuses from roughly 0.25 m (10 inches) to infinity, and a built-in IR illuminator covers close work in total darkness.

Power is deliberately flexible: a single AA alkaline or a CR123 A lithium cell runs the unit up to 20 hours, and an optional external battery pack extends that for long deployments. A pre-installed NVG interface shoe fits standard dovetail headset and helmet mounts, and the housing is compatible with AN/PVS-7D, PVS-14, PVS-7A/C, PVS-15, and PVS-18 mounts plus mini-rail interfaces. You can also switch off one tube to run it as a monocular and conserve battery.

The tubes: Photonis FOM 1400-1800, white phosphor

This NW1 build uses dual Photonis Gen 2+ white-phosphor (P45) tubes at Level 1 grade, with a figure of merit of 1400-1800, a strong band that pairs high resolution with low noise. Because depth perception depends on both eyes receiving a clean image, matched high-FOM tubes matter even more in a binocular than in a monocular.

One important distinction sits above this model: the NVG-50 NW1 is not auto-gated. Auto-gating rapidly switches the photocathode on and off to control exposure under changing or bright light, preventing bloom around streetlights, vehicle headlights, or muzzle flash. For rural, low-light hunting and observation, the non-gated NW1 is excellent value; if you operate around dynamic artificial light, the auto-gated NVG-50 AP and APW are the better fit.

Real-world applications

Mounted movement: the depth perception of dual tubes makes the NVG-50 the right choice for walking rough terrain, fast stalks, working dogs at night, or driving on private land tasks where a flat bi-ocular image is unsafe.

Hunting and land management: helmet-mounted hands-free operation provides true depth for navigating to and between positions; switch to monocular mode to stretch battery life on long sits.

Search, security, and SAR: the wide 51-degree field of view and stereoscopic image speed up scanning and movement through complex environments.

How it compares

Against the bi-ocular Wolf-7 Pro, the NVG-50 NW1 roughly doubles the price but adds genuine depth perception and a wider field of view, the upgrade that defines safe night movement. Within the NVG-50 line, this NW1 is the value entry: the AP and APW models add auto-gating (and a higher FOM 1600-2000 band) for dynamic-light environments, and AGM’s 3A versions move up to Gen 3+ auto-gated tubes. For rural night use without artificial light, the NW1 captures most of the benefits at a lower cost.

FAQ

  • What is the difference between the AGM 50 (NVG-50) and the Wolf-7 Pro? The NVG-50 is a true dual-tube binocular, one tube per eye for stereoscopic depth perception, while the Wolf-7 Pro is a bi-ocular that shares one tube with both eyes and shows a flat image.
  • Is the NVG-50 NW1 auto-gated? No. The NW1 is non-gated, which is ideal for rural low-light use. If you operate around streetlights, headlights, or other dynamic light, choose the auto-gated NVG-50 AP or APW.
  • Can I use just one tube to save battery? Yes. You can switch off one channel to run the NVG-50 as a monocular and extend battery life on long sessions.
  • Which helmet mounts fit it? It has a pre-installed NVG interface shoe for standard dovetail headset and helmet mounts and is compatible with AN/PVS-7D, PVS-14, PVS-7A/C, PVS-15, and PVS-18 mounts.
