Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50: Comprehensive Review

The Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50 answers the same problem as the Symbion but in a lighter, LRF-free package. It pairs a 640×480, 17-micron thermal sensor with a digital night vision channel, so you detect a heat signature with thermal, then switch to the digital channel to read detail and confirm the target. Picture-in-Picture lets you view both at once.

The thermal channel finds game through fog, brush and darkness, with detection reaching around 2,000 m. The digital night vision channel, aided by an IR illuminator, gives a natural, detailed image for identification. A 3-24x magnification range covers both wide scanning and closer study. Omitting the laser rangefinder keeps the weight down for long handheld observation.

Two-eyed viewing reduces fatigue on long sessions; the 64 GB recorder captures footage, and Stream Vision 2 handles streaming and transfer. The magnesium IPX7 body handles weather and demanding use. For observation work where detection plus identification matters more than ranging, the Merger Duo NXP50 is a strong, versatile tool.

Real-world hunting scenarios and use cases

For wildlife observation and mixed-condition hunting, the Merger Duo lets you find an animal by heat, then confirm exactly what it is with the digital night vision channel, all in one binocular. Landowners and researchers use it to monitor wildlife without disturbance, switching between channels as light and cover change. Its lighter, rangefinder-free build suits long observation sessions.

Does the Merger Duo NXP50 have a rangefinder?

No, the Merger Duo NXP50 does not include a laser rangefinder. It focuses on combining thermal detection with digital night vision identification in a lighter body. If you need built-in ranging, choose a Merger LRF model or the Symbion LRF instead. (see thermal vs night vision.)
