Choosing night vision: monocular, binocular, or goggle

All our night vision uses genuine Gen 2+ image-intensifier tubes. The right form factor depends on how you use it.

Night vision monoculars are the most versatile and affordable way in. A single-eye PVS-14 can be hand-held, helmet-mounted, or used on a rifle behind a day scope, which is why it is the benchmark night vision device. Start here if you want one flexible unit.

Night vision binoculars give two-eyed viewing with real depth perception, which is more comfortable for long observation. The Foxbat series adds 5x or 8x magnification for observing at distance.

Night vision goggles are dual-tube and head-worn, giving hands-free vision with natural depth for movement in the dark. The NVG-50 is our premium option, including autogated Photonis tube versions for the highest performance.

What to look for in night vision

Generation: all our devices are Gen 2+, the practical standard, far brighter than Gen 1 and more affordable than Gen 3. Phosphor color: green is the classic look and resolves detail well; white phosphor gives a natural black-and-white image many find less tiring. We stock both. What is the best night vision device to buy?

What does Gen 2+ mean?

Gen 2+ is an image-intensifier generation giving a bright, clear low-light image with long tube life. It is the practical standard for serious use, far better than Gen 1 and much more affordable than Gen 3. All our night vision is Gen 2+.

Green or white phosphor?

Preference, not performance. Green is the classic night vision image; white phosphor gives a natural black-and-white view many find less tiring on long sessions. We stock both across the range.

Can you ship night vision to my country?

Can night vision be used in daylight?

No, not while powered on. Bright daylight can damage an image-intensifier tube, so night vision is for low light and darkness only. Thermal, by contrast, works safely in daylight.
